Hi,

This looks like it threw up lots of questions - many around TB’s role. Its not quite clear to me what you would like from us? Is there action that you think it would be good for us to take?

Seth.

I think a lot of attendees were looking for various levels of support and advice on how to work towards international partnerships, exchanges and touring. I know someone from the British Council ran a session at Start the Bus at Mayfest. That sort of event is helpful. Also, extending existing platforms such as Mayfest and Bristol Do to become showcases for local work which is at a stage ready to tour internationally. Arranging opportunities for international programmers to view local work. Having a ‘made in Bristol’  brand. Having the council and RDA see the true value of theatre as a tourist puller and advocate for Bristol.

Anything you can do to facilitate opportunities or work with companies to get to a level where barriers to international touring are broken down or upgrading companies to a level where they can tour internationally would be helpful. I guess the sector needs an advocate at international level so that theatre made in Bristol is being sold to the world because of the support systems and organisations rather than in spite of them.

Happy to meet up and chat further in my role as GM at Kompany Malakhi.
