About this website: Theatre Bristol thought it would be a really good idea if we created a regular space where people interested in theatre in Bristol can come together to discuss what they're up to, we can say what we're up to, and we can all discuss what we’re not up to but think we ought to be. This website hosts the notes from all Theatre Bristol's TYTM meetings and enables the conversations started in those meetings to continue online.

Arts Council is always looking to fund ambitious, audacious, out of the box work - if it’s of high artistic quality. I think it’s important to keep optimistic and believe that there is always funding for truly ambitious and innovative work. In fact, the current climate makes us go back to basics - good storytelling, good writing, minimal but effective staging - a kind of less is more approach. Even script in hand readings of work with nothing on stage except (good) actors, in good direction, can be ambitious in its scope and quality. The epic and the universal is alive and well, it just needs to be tapped into. Ambition is just a mind-set: it’s doesn’t have to be sumptuous or extravagent. It can be small, and perfectly formed.
