I run the Ausform Platform and I am always looking for new work. Get in touch if you are interested.

Hi,

My name’s Tom Spencer and as well as being a current Student at Bristol Uni, I also set up and run Fine Chisel (http://www.finechisel.co.uk) - a new theatre company looking to go some way towards bridging the student-professional gulf in bristol. The first two official to you to me…s have unfortunately clashed with rare moments of actual degree work, but I hope to become involved with this as much as possible. It would be great to see more student work in the city, but also the other way around - professional and emerging artists’ work directly engaging with the student population.

For now, let me fill in what the university can offer as far as venues are concerned.

In the Union: The Winston Theatre (for the use of Student societies - why not suggest a collaboration with Spotlights or Dramsoc?) and the Lady Windsor Studio Theatre (+ bar spaces)

In the Drama dept: The Wickham Theatre (which programmes some really interesting professional work when not being used for teaching) and ‘Theatre 2’ (a completely flexible studio theatre) - talk to Rona Fineman, who is extremely welcoming and open to discussions

In Halls of Residence: Manor Hall has a beautiful old dining room, with a proscenium stage, that suits many types of productions - talk to secretary Nikki Press. Many of the other halls (contactable through the bris.ac.uk website) have theatre spaces.

On another note, we staged previews for our Edinburgh show this year in The Cooler Nightclub on Park St - if you can tolerate a slightly sticky floor, they seemed keen to discuss future theatre ideas and it tends to bring a large trendy crowd.

Cheers,

Tom
